The Prater Gallery is a non-commercial venue for exhibiting and sharing knowledge about contemporary art. It consists of three areas of equal importance: the gallery space, the virtual space of Prater Digital and the field of cultural education. As a municipal gallery, the Prater Gallery is part of the Fachbereich Kunst und Kultur (Art and Culture Department) in the Pankow District Office for Further Education and Culture in Berlin.
All events at the Prater Galerie are free of charge.

Wheelchair Accessibility and Step-Free Access
The Prater Galerie is accessible to visitors with limited mobility. The exhibition space can be reached barrier-free by wheelchair via the side entrance at the entrance to the Pratergarten. The main entrance on Kastanienallee is reached via two steps. All exhibitions are presented on the ground floor. There is a toilet with disabled access in the entrance area of the gallery. It has a push-button switch for opening the door.

The prospect of the reopening of the Prater in 2021 offered a unique opportunity to reinvent a communal cultural institution within the Pankow district, at a central location in Prenzlauer Berg. The Department of Art and Culture at the Pankow District Authority’s Office of Further Education and Culture appointed an advisory committee of external experts to advise on the thematic focus of the Prater, and the committee developed fundamental principles together at comprehensive workshops held in 2019.
Particularly heartfelt thanks are due to the advisory committee for its many productive discussions, valuable impulses and generous willingness to engage with the open Prater process.
