In Black Sounds in the Prater, multimedia artist Ina Wudtke provides insights into the activities of the female DJ-MC collective FEMMES WITH FATAL BREAKS she co-founded. The international artists performed at the Prater and pioneered the accessibility of Afro-Atlantic cultures in Berlin at the turn of the millennium. The publication is part of the ‘Prater Perspektiven’ series and will be presented as part of the opening celebrations in 2025.

Using a speculative method, she negotiates the changeables rules of the visible and ‘the sayable’ in societies as well as the conflicts about racism, migration and colonisation.

The Berlin Prater by Johanna Niedbalski is the first publication in the ‘Prater Perspektiven’ series initiated by the Prater Galerie. The historian offers a well-founded, academic overview of the Prater’s development from a modest beer garden with visionary plans for the future to a bustling cultural venue, once in the northeast, now at the heart of this culturally thriving city.
