In the late 1990s, the Bastard Club was located in the space that will be home to the Prater Galerie after extensive renovations. Newly founded, the club quickly established itself in the Berlin scene, above all thanks to the performances of the first female DJ-MC team FEMMES WITH FATAL BREAKS. In Black Sounds in the Prater, multimedia artist Ina Wudtke, who moved to Berlin in 1995, provides insights into the activities of the female DJ-MC collective she co-founded. The international artists pioneered the accessibility of Afro-Atlantic cultures in Berlin at the turn of the millennium. Through personal stories, always with an eye on current events, Wudtke describes how significant the interdisciplinary work of FLINTA* and BiPoC artists at the Berlin Prater was and still is today.
Black Sounds in the Prater by Ina Wudtke is a publication in the ‘Prater Perspektiven’ series to mark the occasion oft he reopening of the Berlin Prater and the municipal Prater Gallery after extensive renovations. The publication will be presented by Ina Wudtke as part of the opening celebrations in 2025.
