On March 7 at 5 pm, we will visit the Portuguese artist Marisa Benjamim in her studio in Tempelhof. She will show us how her artistic research engages with local plant life and ecological systems. Her practice ranges from edible installations to drawings created with natural materials and pigments. She works with and for nature in site-specific, performative, and interdisciplinary projects, collaborating with biologists and gardeners.
This year, Marisa Benjamim will be part of our exhibition series Ecosystems of Care in a former gatehouse on the cultural island of Ernst-Thälmann-Park. In collaboration with the gardening collective Stadtpflanzen, she will explore the flora of Thälmann Park and the soil contamination caused by the former gasworks that once occupied the site.
